The other night, Thing 1 and Thing 2 were bored and started picking at each other. This typically happens in the evenings before bath time and bed time. After listening to them whine and argue for almost 30 minutes, I had to find something to distract them. Then I remembered the I Spy bottle craft I had seen on Pinterest.
Perfect.
I grabbed two empty water bottles and we began our mission to find things that would fit in them. As we added items to our bottles, I wrote each object down on an index card so we had an inventory. I had the kids add different things to their bottles to avoid creating identical toys. We scored most of the items in the kid's rooms. Turner added a miniature machine gun, a lego, and a dinosaur to name a few while Lauren added a hair tie, a pink button, a bracelet, and as many pink and purple things she could find.
After we found our Spy items, we filled the bottles with colored rice. I had the kids exchange bottles and they were thoroughly entertained for the rest of the evening.
